Timothy Woods, M.D. is a practicing General/Trauma surgeon in Springfield, Missouri. Since
2006, he has served as the Trauma Medical Director at the Level 1 Trauma Center CoxHealth.
As Trauma Director, he is responsible for the medical care of over 2500 trauma admissions
annually. In addition to his trauma practice, he has a very busy and progressive general surgery
practice focusing on esophageal surgery, gastric surgery, and bariatric surgery.
Dr. Woods has held multiple leadership positions within his health system and the state of Missouri and currently serves as the Region VII Vice-Chairman (Missouri) for the American College of
Surgeons Committee on Trauma. He holds various academic appointments with the University
of Missouri, Missouri State University, and Saint Louis University.
Dr. Woods served in the United States Air Force from 1997-2006. As an Air Force Surgeon, he
was responsible for the trauma care of many men and women injured during Operation Iraqi
Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. His assignments included Wright-Patterson AFB in
Dayton, OH, Osan AFB in the Republic of Korea, and Ramstein AFB in Germany. In 2017, Dr.
Woods joined the Missouri Air National Guard to continue his service to the state of Missouri
and the United States of America.
As a Major with the Air National Guard, he is assigned to the C-STARS (Center for the Sustainment of Trauma and Readiness Skills) program at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
